** WASTE PREVENTION FORUM ** -- A project of the National Waste Prevention Coalition -------------------- >From Christine McCoy, National Recycling Coalition, Alexandria, VA: Karen Foley, a writer for Coffee and Tea Magazine, contacted me to find out more about Styrofoam vs. Paper Cups for coffee and beverage services. I sent her the discussion on disposable tea cups that went on in this Forum several months ago, but I'm sure she would love more information if anyone has anything specific regarding the differences between the two types. Just so you are aware, she's already spoken to the following groups: Starbucks, National Polystyrene Council, American Forest and Paper Council (they said they don't have any info.), Recycling Advocates (in Portland, OR), Dart (manufactures both paper/poly), Potlatch (paper cup manufacturer), a professor at the Univ. of Victoria, and Oregon's Department of Environmental Quality. If anyone has any information, they can respond directly to Karen at: Karen ( AT ) freshcup ( DOT ) com Thanks much! --------------------- >From Kinley Deller, King County Solid Waste Division, Seattle, WA: I am working with an auto repair company who is looking for recycled-content mirror hang cards. (That paper card with the big numbers on it hanging from your rear-view mirror when you pick your car up at the autobody shop). Has anyone heard of a company that makes these with recycled content? Is there a good alternative to this system? Thanks. The address of the site is: http://www.1800cleanup.org/Composting/composting.htm --------------------- Excerpted from a junk e-mail (also known as "spam") received by Tom Watson: "Save the Planet, Save the Trees!
