>From Eileen Sheehan, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 9,
Pollution Prevention Team, San Francisco, CA:

It is with great sadness that I share the devastating news of the sudden
death of Moira DeRosa, who died in a swimming accident on July 2 while
vacationing in Costa Rica. Moira was a beloved member of the EPA Region 9
Solid Waste Section, and an active participant in the Hospitals for a
Healthy Environment (H2E) pollution prevention partnership and in the
hospital waste reduction work in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Her
early and sudden death comes as an immense shock to all of us. It is
unimaginable to think of her no longer a part of our lives. Moira was
someone we will remember as a sweet, loving and caring person. We know she
will be deeply missed by many colleagues here at EPA and in the larger
environmental community.

Memorial services are being planned by her parents in Indiana and by her
friends and colleagues in San Francisco. Details are not yet finalized.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike DeRosa, would welcome cards or remembrances.
Their address is: 400 Summer Drive, Schererville, Indiana, 46375.

Rosa was not only a bright, creative, energetic and warm colleague who
brought people and programs together, but someone I counted as friend....

Note from Tom:

Moira was a subscriber and an active participant in the Waste Prevention
Forum. I did not know her personally, but I feel like I did. Our heartfelt
condolences go out to Moira's family and friends.
