** WASTE PREVENTION FORUM ** -- A project of the National Waste Prevention Coalition -------- Forum archive: http://www.nwpcarchive.org --------------------- Article by Scott Learn in the 8/1/08 Portland Oregonian about efforts in Oregon to track the global warming effects of consumption: http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/news/1217566503179850.xml&coll=7&thispage=1 -------------------- From Tom Watson, King County Solid Waste Division, Seattle, WA, and the National Waste Prevention Coalition: Our King County EcoConsumer project (http://www.KCecoconsumer.com) has a new TV commercial we are running on regular and cable TV here in the Seattle area (these are paid ads on major channels). This ad deals with consumption, among other things. Here is the direct link to our web page with the 30-second and 15-second version of the ad: http://www.metrokc.gov/dnrp/swd/ecoconsumer/really-important-questions.asp The ad drives people to our EcoConsumer website, where we have been beefing up our content. (Within the next few weeks we will introduce a spiffy new Home Remodeling Tool.) We think this paid TV ad is a nice complement to all the unpaid media and other exposure we get for this project (much of that is also posted on the EcoConsumer website). We've also been getting a lot of hits for the EcoConsumer blog (http://www.metrokc.gov/dnrp/swd/ecoconsumer/blog.asp?ID=90), which people can subscribe to through an RSS feed. That blog frequently deals with consumption issues as well. Please let me know if you have any thoughts about the new TV ad, or anything else on the EcoConsumer site. Thanks!
